New College’s efforts to promote an inclusive learning and working environment were recognised in 2019, when the School became the first Theology and Religious Studies department to receive a Silver Athena SWAN award. Five years previously, in 2014, the School had been awarded Bronze.
The application process was overseen by the School’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee (then the Equality and Diversity Committee), led at that time by Dr Naomi Appleton.
