McIntyre Room

The McIntyre Room is a boardroom style room with tables and chairs used for general teaching.

The room is named in honour of the distinguished theologian, Professor John McIntyre, Professor of Divinity, 1956-86, Principal of New College, 1968-1974, and twice acting Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Edinburgh, 1973-1974, 1979.  Alongside his many distinctions as theologian and Church leader, Professor McIntyre played the leading role in securing funding and planning the major reconstruction of the New College building in the early 1970s, as well in the construction of the University’s Pollock Halls.  The University’s impressive John McIntyre Centre is also named in his honour.
