Theologian shows early promise

Held in the School’s Special Collections, the Theological Faculty’s Committee Minutes (AA 1 2 5) for the 1930’s testify to Thomas F. Torrance’s early string of academic achievements. While studying at New College between 1934 and 1937, he received student prizes in May 1935, 1936 and 1937! He went on to dominate English-speaking theology, returning to New College 1950-79 as Professor of Church History and then of Christian Dogmatics.
